How to Support Your Loved Ones During COVID

How to Support Your Loved Ones During COVID

While your senior loved ones may have a caregiver watching over their well-being, you may still be worried about them during the coronavirus outbreak. This is, of course, understandable considering the impact of this pandemic.

You have probably asked yourself, “What can I do to support them during this time?” Well, as a provider of home care in Long Beach, California, we suggest the following:

  • Reach Out
There are so many ways you can stay connected to your loved ones, even without seeing them in person. You can make a phone call, use an app like Skype, or if you have kids, you can let them draw something to send to your loved ones. We encourage you to get creative! Why not have a virtual game night or a video conference over dinner?
  • Ask How You Can Help
Ensure they are familiar with pharmacy and grocery delivery services. Help them sign up for these if needed. Check in every week as well to learn how they are obtaining their grocery items. Do not forget to keep a list of important contact numbers you may need if they feel unwell, such as other family members, their physician, and their caregiver.
  • Share Positive News
A lot going on right now, which can make your loved ones feel uneasy and overwhelmed. Help them see that there is still good going on. Share inspirational videos or talk about acts of kindness you have witnessed or read about. This will make your loved ones feel so much better.
